How much is it a month?
Our plans start at $39.95 a month for our 512k Basic Service. That is 10x faster than dial-up. If a page took one minute with your dial-up account, it would only take 6 seconds with our basic service.
What is a Site Survey?
If you live within our coverage area, a site survey is to ensure we have adequate signal available to maintain a good quality link to a nearby Transmitter (or Access Point). A technician will need to determine whether or not you are available for SkyHi Broadband internet service by coming to your location and testing the wireless signals there.
You do not have to be home for a site survey. A SkyHi Broadband representative will call-back after a site evaluation to inform you of the results, if you were not available to be there during our visit.
How much is the Installation?
Most installations cost $149, but can go higher depending on the work requested and materials needed to establish service. Any work requiring attic crawls, wall fishing, antenna masts and gye wires will be extra. An estimate for the installation will be given at the Site Survey and time of installation. The Installation Fee and the first month of service will be due at time of your service activation.
Do I need Line of Sight?
Line of Sight to one of transmitter without any obstacles along the signal pathway ensures a reliable wireless connection and availabilitiy of our enhanced services. However, it is not necessary in all circustances and service availability is determined on a case by case basis.
Where is the service available?
The rural areas of Lincoln and the surrounding countryside, including Sheridan and parts of Newcastle, Auburn and Camp Far West.
Is there a limit to the amount of data I can use like on my satellite system?
There is no limit to the amount of data that can be used. However, SkyHi may limit the speeds of popular file-sharing programs.
Can I use a VoIP system on your network?
Subscribers can connect their VoIP systems on their internet service plan. Testing has confirmed the best quality of VoIP system on our network is provided by Vonage. However, we cannot gurantee that your VoIP system will work to the best of its ability due to the wireless connection needed to connect you to the internet.
I want to play online games. Will they work with your service?
The capability to play online games at their full potential will depend on the condition of your wireless connection. If you are close enough to a transmitter or you are on our 5 Ghz network, then these bandwidth intensive services will work as cgood as they can.
